Basic Life Support

People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care of emergency medical technicians (EMTs).   Incidents as varied as automobile accidents, heart attacks, drowning, childbirth, and gunshot wounds all require immediate medical attention.  When Advanced Emergency Care is unavailable,  EMTs provide this vital attention as they care for and transport the sick or injured to a medical facility.   Basic Life Support ambulances are utilized largely for non-emergency transportation but are well equipped to handle any emergent situation.  EMTs are State licensed and require on-going continuing education for their renewals.  Each Basic ambulance is oxygen equipped and carries oral airways, immobilization devices, and a variety of non-invasive patient care items designed to aid the EMT in their assessment and delivery of care.   When in transit, one EMT drives while the other monitors the patient.   Each ambulance crew is responsible for identifying each patient transported and documenting all care rendered as well as the necessity of the transportation provided.   We fully respect our patient's right to privacy and all patient information obtained is protected under the HIPPA privacy act.
