Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) |
|
||
This comprehensive 4-hour program covers rescue breathing, choking care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children and infants. Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is also covered, and is integrated into the treatment sequence. This course meets Medicare and state regulations requiring that healthcare providers maintain nationally recognized CPR certification. Use of a one-to-one manikin ratio allows for more hands-on practice and therefore greater skill proficiency. A written and practical examination is given.

This exciting new American Heart Association program covers basic emergency care (without CPR training) and is suitable for assisted living and nursing care staff, youth leaders and camp counselors. The 5-6 hour program helps students to recognize significant medical emergencies and to provide initial first aid care until appropriate professionals arrive. The
16-hour ACLS course is a hallmark of healthcare providers everywhere and
emphasizes the critical treatment steps in cardiac emergencies. Required
of physicians, nurses and paramedics alike, quality ACLS education
reinforces students’ medical knowledge of arrhythmia recognition,
emergency pharmacology and electrical therapy including manual
defibrillation, cardioversion and pacing. Didactic and practical
evaluations are conducted throughout the course, which culminates in an

program supplements initial paramedic training, it cannot replace it.

| PreHospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) | |||

The PHTLS Provider course is designed to be an intensive 16-20 hour experience. It is available to all levels of pre-hospital care providers, and programs are typically attended by Emergency First Responders (Fire, Police, Search & Rescue, etc.), EMT’s, Paramedics, Nurses (including Industrial based Occupational Health Nurses), Physicians, and Physician Assistants. The National Association of EMTs oversees this prestigious program. The course is scenario-based, with lectures and interactive skills station components meant to enhance the pre-hospital care providers’ knowledge, and further develop the critical thinking skills required to effectively treat the trauma patient in the field.

| 12 Lead EKG Provider Course | |||

This comprehensive, one-day course is suitable for EMS and allied health professionals who perform or analyze 12-lead EKGs. Objectives include the identification of key 12-lead EKG components, recognition of EKG patterns of acute coronary syndrome, acquisition of an accurate 12 Lead EKG, definition of acute coronary syndromes, and identification of the clinical presentations of acute coronary syndromes.
